A student journal made this insightful observation:
A central premise of this course is that being a leader begins with being a person of integrity, and being a person of one's word requires that you do a cost/benefit analysis on giving your word before you give your word. That is, when you have an opportunity to make a promise to someone, you honor their request by your looking at what you stand to gain, and what you stand to lose by fulfilling that promise, so that when you give your word, you are clear that you are going to have to organize your life around fulfilling that promise along with any other promises you have made.
